Evan Papageorgiou is an ACS Gold Award winning cinematographer who has collaborated with many of the best filmmakers of our time, including Baz Luhrmann, Kriv Stenders and the Duplass brothers. Evan is passionate about supporting emerging directing talent and is equally sought after by the most esteemed directors, bringing great energy to every production, and a deep commitment to engaging and atmospheric storytelling for the large and small screen.
Evan’s experience spans film, television, documentary and commercials where he has worked with the boldest in the business, creating compelling content for diverse clients including Los Angeles Chargers, Levi, Absolute Vodka, Samsung Optus (doco on eight-time Olympic Gold Medalist Usain Bolt and four-time Grammy Award winning musician Macklemore).
Comfortable with large studio crews and small run and gun shoots in remote locations, Evan has shot hundreds of television commercials in Australia and internationally and has won numerous Gold Promax Awards for his commercial output.
Evan is a versatile, original and inventive storyteller with a broad set of skills on set. With over a decade of experience, Evan’s projects include: Slim and I (Dir: Kriv Stenders); Deafying Gravity (Dir: Sam Martin, NYC Documentary Festival & Sydney Film Festival); The Turning (Dir: Robert Connelly); Impossible Conversations (Met Gala Ball commission, Dir: Baz Luhrmann); The Great Gatsby (Dir: Baz Luhrmann); Players in the USA (SnapChat film); Jali, (Sydney Film Festival, Short Film); Twilight (Stan); and Cannes Official Selection, Nerds in Love. Evan has also collaborated with a raft of high-profile contemporary artists on video art projects including Angelica Mesiti, Baz Luhrmann, Shaun Gladwell and Cecile B Evans.
